Casa de Campo World´s Leading Golf Resort

A labyrinth of paths winds through the voluptuous tropical gardens at the sprawling Casa de Campo resort in the Dominican Republic. The arms of huge Royal Ponciana trees are vivid red-blooming umbrellas above riots of bougainvillea, and hibiscus. Amid the greenery are low-rise buildings of guest rooms and suites; large and small rental villas, two golf courses; a full-service spa, swimming pools, restaurants and sports venues.

Casa de Campo, in La Romana, is situated on the southern shore of the beautiful island of Hispaniola (in the Dominican Republic), two hours east of the capital city of Santo Domingo. With three championship courses on the property, it offers some of the best Golf in the Caribbean.

Only in the past couple of decades have the grand resorts really discovered the potential of the Dominican Republic, and their presence on the island is growing almost exponentially. Casa de Campo, sprawls over more than 6,900 acres and is the most famous and, arguably, the most luxurious of them all.

Casa de Campo is a world-within-a-world of private villas, hotel suites and rooms, nine restaurants, ten bars, three golf courses, a beach, three swimming pools, 13 tennis courts, a world-class spa and health club, horseback riding, polo, and skeet shooting and, of course, shopping. Casa de Campo is huge, so big in fact that you need a golf cart to get around.

Other attractions include Altos de Chavon, a recreation of a 16th century Mediterranean village and a step back to a time when life moved much more slowly. Altos is a charming collection of shops, restaurants, and cultural attractions.

The resort is also home to several of the most celebrated golf courses in the world. In fact, golf has played a major role in the development of Casa de Campo’s international reputation.  Its most famous offering, Teeth of the Dog, designed by Pete Dye and opened in 1971, and was ranked number 17 on Golf Digest’s “Top 100 Courses Outside the US” in 2005. Two more Pete Dye complete the Casa de Campo collection and, together, Casa’s “Three Amigos” offer a rare opportunity for the golf vacation of a lifetime.
